The invitation to farmers came on 9 October 2026, World Egg Day, at a celebration held in Hyderabad by the Telangana Poultry Federation and the Hyderabad zone of the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC). Uday Singh Bayas, president of the Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (IPEMA), which organises the expo, asked farmers, traders, young entrepreneurs and the public to attend. Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Dr Vakiti Srihari and Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy were among those present at the egg day programme.

Why this expo matters

World Egg Day is marked every year on the second Friday of October to remind people that eggs are a cheap, easy source of good protein. At the Hyderabad event, the IPEMA president described the egg as an affordable and nutrient-rich food that supports growth and strength. The poultry sector uses the day to push egg eating, and this year it also used it to promote its biggest trade show.

Poultry India has been held in Hyderabad since 2007, and this is its 18th edition. Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh are among India’s leading egg and broiler states, so the show draws a large crowd of farmers, integrators, hatcheries, feed millers and dealers from across the country, along with foreign companies. According to the official website, exhibitors will cover farm automation, feed and nutrition, health and vaccines, breeding and hatchery systems, processing and packaging, housing and climate-control equipment, waste management, and logistics and services.

What it means for poultry farmers

Feed is the biggest cost on any broiler or layer farm, and this year maize and soya prices are under pressure. Small gains in feed conversion, lower mortality and better shed climate now make a real difference to profit. An expo is one of the few places where a farmer can compare many options in one day: feeders and drinkers, ventilation and cooling, feed additives and premixes, vaccines and biosecurity products, incubators and hatchery machines, and farm software.

The Knowledge Day on 24 November is a technical conference with seminars and panel discussions with experts, plus a Young Entrepreneurs Programme. For a farmer, it is a chance to hear the latest thinking on nutrition, disease control and automation directly from scientists and vets. Note that it is held at a different place (HICC Novotel) and needs its own delegate registration, which may carry a fee.

The visit has a cost too: travel, a hotel in Hyderabad and two or three days away from the farm. Planning ahead keeps that cost worthwhile.

What farmers should do now

  • Register online early. Visitor entry is free, and pre-registering on the official Poultry India website helps you avoid queues at the gate.
  • Decide on Knowledge Day. If you want the technical sessions on 24 November, register separately as a delegate and check the fee first.
  • Book travel and stay in advance. Hotels can fill up around a big trade show, so do not leave it to the last week. The venue can be reached by the Hyderabad Metro (HITEC City station) and has parking.
  • Make a shopping list before you go. Write down your farm’s top 3 problems (for example, summer losses, high FCR, poor egg shell quality) and look for solutions to those, not random gadgets.
  • Collect prices and compare. Take quotes, ask for after-sales service and spare part support in your district, and talk to other farmers who already use the product before you buy.
  • Keep your farm safe while you travel. Leave a trained person in charge and do not go straight from the expo into your sheds. Change clothes and footwear first, as part of basic biosecurity.
  • Do not bring children under 15, as they will not be allowed into the exhibition.
